Meet Our Royal Pride Directors

Director

Brittany Suey

Mrs. Suey brings a vibrant spirit, a wealth of experience, and a heart full of passion to everything she does - both in the dance studio and in life.

A proud native of La Porte, Texas, her love for dance began as a dedicated member of the La Porte High School Chatos Dance Team, where she served as Lieutenant and later as Captain. It was during these formative years that her dance career truly began to blossom, as she trained with renowned studios such as The Houston Metropolitan Dance Center and Planet Funk Academy.
Her talent and dedication earned her a full scholarship to dance at Hawaii Pacific University, as a member of the 7x NDA National Champion HPU Dance Team.  There, she not only claimed two national titles and an innovative choreography award with NDA, but also served as Captain for 2 years, and earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2012.After graduation, she remained at HPU, stepping into leadership roles as the Head Coach of the HPU Dance Team, the campus Cheer Team Advisor, and NCAA Compliance Assistant - all while continuing to choreograph award-winning pieces and perform on international stages.

Her work has been showcased with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World, Monsters of Hip Hop, and World of Dance. She's also taken the stage at the NFL Pro Bowl Halftime Show and danced with lona Contemporary Dance Theatre and Derek Daniels Productions in Honolulu, HI.
Beyond the performance world, she earned her certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and became a nationally ranked personal trainer, specializing in functional training and injury prevention through the UFC Gym Honolulu.

In 2016, Mrs. Suey returned to Texas and joined George Ranch High School as the Assistant Director of the Lariettes Varsity and Belles JV Dance Teams. In 2021, she was honored to step into the role of Head Director, leading her teams to numerous awards, including two national titles, one state title, and a top-20 national ranking at NDA Nationals in Orlando. One of her proudest achievements during this time was founding LCISD's first and only dance team for students with special needs - the GRHS Sparkle Squad - a program that continues to make a powerful impact in the community.
What truly sets Mrs. Suey apart is her heart. Her strong sense of Ohana — the Hawaiian word for family — guides all that she does. She finds her greatest joy in her own beautiful family: her husband Josh, her biggest supporter;
London, her spirited softball princess; and Layton, her tiny dancing queen.
Now, as a proud member of the Grand Oaks High School and Royal Pride Drill Team family, Mrs. Suey is thrilled to continue sharing her love of dance, building strong relationships, and helping every student shine - on the stage and beyond.

Assistant Director

Sarah Johnston

Sarah Johnston is a passionate and accomplished dancer from Wichita Falls, Texas. She began her dance journey at the age of three, training at Dance Etc for 14 years in all styles of dance. During her time at the studio, she was a dedicated member of both the performing and competitive teams, developing a strong foundation in technique and performance.

Sarah attended Rider High School, where she was a four-year member of the Rider Raiderettes. Her leadership skills quickly became evident—she served as an officer during her sophomore and junior years and was named captain her senior year.

After graduating in 2020, Sarah earned a coveted spot on the 81st line of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes. As a Rangerette, she had the honor of performing at high-profile events including the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, the Cotton Bowl Classic, and numerous parades and community events throughout Texas. During her time at Kilgore College, she was also a member of Industry Dance Company, a pre-professional modern dance company led by artistic director Angela

Aulds. She graduated from Kilgore College with an Associate of Fine Arts degree.

Sarah continued her dance education at The University of Texas at Austin, where she recently earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with a focus in Dance Education. While at UT, she performed in multiple fall and spring concerts and showcased her choreographic talents in a student-run production.
As part of her degree program, Sarah completed student teaching placements at both a high school and a middle school, where she had the opportunity to develop, practice, and refine her teaching skills in real classroom settings. These experiences allowed her to grow tremendously as an educator and deepened her passion for working with students through dance.
Now a proud UT graduate, Sarah is thrilled to be joining Grand Oaks High School and the Royal Pride Dance Team. She is both honored and excited to assist in leading this talented team alongside Mrs. Suey. Sarah looks forward to a year filled with growth, creativity, and excellence, and is eager to pour her experience, energy, and love for dance into this next chapter.
